Hanuman

Hindus worship Hanuman, the well -known monkey god all over the world. He is the son of Vayu, the lord of the winds and Anjana. Hanuman's other names are Hanumat, Pavan-suta, Anjaneyar and Veera Maaruthi.

In temples, his image is set up alone standing with a mace in the right hand or sitting in a devotional posture before the images of Lord Rama and Sita.
He is considered to be the god of power and strength, who remained a celibate through his whole life. He is worshipped as being the greatest devotee of Rama, who loves Hanuman the most.

According to historical legends, Hanuman defeated the great and powerful King Ravana , who had captured Sita, wife of Lord Rama. Hanuman rescued Sita and brought her back to Lord Rama.

After being in exile for 14 years, Lord Rama returned back to Ayodhya accompanied by Sita, Luxshman. and Hanuman. Lord Rama ascended the throne to rule Ayodhya. He invited Hanuman to come forward and embraced Hanuman. When Hanuman's body came in touch with Rama who was inaccessible to any other, Hanuman begged for the boon to make his body immortal to live on earth forever .He was granted this immortality. Hanuman's deed of bravery and feats of valor are related in great details in the Ramayana

Hindus worship Hanuman for strength, prosperity and good health and is known to come to the aid of devotees, faster then the speed of wind.
